I was introduced to them through the company who is doing our solar installation and after I met with Bob Ahern I felt very comfortable with him and his company philosophy.

They certainly weren’t the cheapest option, but I felt they were very concerned with quality and doing the job the right way the first time.

Meeting Aaron the following day I was quite impressed by his willingness to follow manufacturer’s instructions from starter courses to overhanging the drip edge to cutting in the chimney flashings. Many roofers I’ve spoken to seem to be focused on just doing the job the easiest way.

Interestingly they weren’t familiar with the Shingle Vent II product. One that I was specifically interested in after seeing hundreds of home inspections and seeing the ShingleVent Youtube videos on roof venting.

But after some discussion they were perfectly happy to install it and it looks like it was installed really well.

The kitchen remodel  will probably be finished (or close to it) by the end of the month.

That means that we need to decide on a roofer and a roof.

We are currently thinking about a “50 Year” rated shingle from Owens Corning, Tamko, Certianteed or GAF/Elk.

We also want to choose a roofer who will do a quality installation. That means installing the materials to the manufacturer’s specifications and to the building code requirements.

In my professional life I’ve seen hundreds of roofs installed improperly.

• Walk out back yard. (Two stories back there)
• About 3,100 total square feet of roof.

• The roof isn’t leaking currently, but there are probably some sheathing boards that will need to be replaced.
• Two layers of shingles to remove
• There are two noticeable sags that need to be adjusted where there are inside walls.
• There are no valleys. Just one 20′ length that needs to be flashed.
• The two gable vents need to be closed.
• The two bathroom vents need to exit out the roof with dedicated bath vents.
